A Life in Art – exhibition of lino prints by Georgina Smith at Words & Actions for Peace

58 Ratcliffe Terrace Edinburgh EH9 1ST19th -30th June Open 10.0 – 16.00 daily.

Georgina Smith is a Scottish artist and peace activist whose creative practice is based on observation of her environment and the people close to her, often incorporating elements from her own life and featuring her family and friends and always referencing her commitment to nuclear disarmament. She was one of the1980’s Greenham woman, and later, she purchased Peaton Glen Wood near Coulport in Scotland which became a base for actions and disarmament camps by Trident Ploughshares. She later gifted the woodland to a Trust which was created to sustain the woodland and support witness against the nuclear weapons facilities nearby. The exhibition includes prints related to her activism and drawings she made in prison.

Georgina: Art, Morality and Law, is a documentary film by Lin Li about Georgina’s life, art and protest will be screened at The Space, 183 Dalry Road EH11 2EB on Friday 30 June, with comments from Janet Fenton of Secure Scotland.
